The Assistive Technology Center

The NWBOCES Assistive Technology Center became operational in May of 1999. It is now located at 343 Broadway, Thermopolis, Wyoming with standard mobile services via an assessment / services van.

The Assistive Technology Center Offers The Following Services:

Consulting and Adapting Assistive Technology Service

This service examines the environmental concerns of the consumer in their home, school, work, recreational or other settings. The technologist addresses the concerns by working with the consumer, the consumer's family, care givers, educators, therapists, employer, case workers and other parties who play a functional role in the life of the consumer. The next step is to find the best match of available technology to the consumer's needs and / or desires. Finally, the technologist assists the consumer with training and support to meet the goals.

Evaluation / Assessment Service

In the delivery of this service, the technologist functions as a member of an assessment team. The technologist completes and interprets an assistive technology assessment and participates with other team members in the determination of best programming options for the individual. Lastly, the technologist researches functional and often cost saving devices to recommend for use by the individual.
